The Voice of the Lord
Why do we retreat to nature when we want rest? Why is the cabin in the woods so peaceful? Why do we relax on the beach to listen to the waves? When we want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, we retreat to the lake.
We live in a world which is disobedient to God. Every day it appears the world is growing further and further from God’s morals. It is common to hear of mental health, stress, depression, and just general chaos in one’s life. We long to find peace.
When in nature, everything is so peaceful. Why? Is it because everything is in obedience to the Word of God? The bird fly like they were commanded. The tree’s grow like God intended. Did you know that nature declares God’s Glory?
Psalm 19:1 (ESV)
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Is it that we long to have a relationship with our creator? We have been wayward for so long that we try and drown our sorrow of pain with the things of this world, yet it does not satisfy. The career, finance, material items, alcohol, drugs, it never fills, never satisfies. We need to get away, we need to get back to nature. Yet, what really is drawing us is the Spirit of the Lord.

The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
When we get back to nature, when we hear the sounds of obedience to the Word of God it’s soothes us. When we are by the lake watching the sunset listening to the waves, remember, it is the LORD’s voice upon those waters. It is a powerful voice. It is a voice that brings peace and comfort.
