Healing
Healing has become a popular term. In our little village we recently had “The Wall That Heals” for the second time. Just a simple search online for the word “healing” brings up the following:
·How to find emotional healing
·How to heal from trauma: 10 strategies that can help
·The 6 steps of healing you need to know
·5 Easy steps to self-healing in 5 minutes
The definition, according to Merriam-Webster, of healing is:
·To make free from injury or disease: to make sound or whole
·To make well again: to restore to health
Whether you struggle physically or emotionally, this world is trying to give answers for healing. They make the claim if you follow their steps, come to their site, listen to their advice, it will make you free from the pain. However, too often, we don’t find a release from the pain which we incur in this life, rather, just a loss of money from the hope of the promise of healing.
After the Israelites crossed the Red Sea and were delivered from the Egyptians, God made this promise:
Exodus 15:26
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statues, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.
God stated He is the Lord that can mend, he is the one that can make free from disease, He is the one that can restore to health. Do we turn to Him, that heals, in our time of pain?
Psalm 147:3
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Have emotionally hurt? Has this world, which is fallen, caused you pain in your mind? God promised to mend, make free, the ones who have been broken in their minds.
Rather, many choose to pour out money, find the 6 steps to their healing and hope for the best. What they want is the benefit of healing, without having to “diligently hearken” to God. They want the benefits, but not the commitment.
Matthew 13:14-16
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
Do you have eyes and see the promises of God? Or do you have ears and not understand? Maybe you read this blog and thought “God doesn’t heal anymore” or some other negative thought towards His promises. If you’ve tried everything else, why not give God a try? Why not start to “diligently hearken” to His Word and let Him start the healing process.
